Getting Started

What's included in a comprehensive evaluation?
Every comprehensive evaluation includes a clinical intake interview, review of relevant records, comprehensive testing, test scoring and clinical interpretation, a written report, and a feedback conference to review results with you.

What ages does Bluebirds serve?
Bluebirds provides evaluations for clients from preschool through college age.

Does an evaluation guarantee a diagnosis or school services?
No. Evaluation results are based on the information available and the assessment procedures used. An evaluation does not guarantee a particular diagnosis, eligibility determination, school service, or treatment outcome.

Does Bluebirds provide forensic, custody, or court-related evaluations?
No. Bluebirds is a diagnostic and educational evaluation practice and does not provide forensic evaluations, court-ordered evaluations, custody evaluations, court testimony, depositions, or expert witness services of any kind.

Pricing & Payment

Bluebirds is a private-pay practice with transparent, flat-fee pricing for comprehensive evaluations.

Preschool–2nd Grade

$2,200

3rd Grade–College

$2,800

How does the deposit work?
A $500 non-refundable scheduling deposit reserves your clinical intake appointment. It is applied directly toward your total evaluation fee—it is not an additional cost. The remaining balance ($1,700 for Preschool–2nd grade, or $2,300 for 3rd grade–College) is due when your testing appointment is scheduled, unless other arrangements have been made with our office in writing.

What if I need additional services after my evaluation is complete?
Services requested after your report is finalized—such as additional consultation, school meetings, additional record review, or extra documentation—are billed separately at our hourly professional rate of $250/hour.

Are payment plans available?
Flexible payment and financing options may be available for all or part of the evaluation fee, subject to applicable terms and approval.

Bluebirds does not participate in insurance plans and is considered an out-of-network provider. HSA and FSA funds may be used for eligible expenses when permitted by your individual plan.

Insurance & Reimbursement

Does Bluebirds accept insurance?
No. Bluebirds does not participate in insurance plans and is considered an out-of-network provider. Payment is the family's responsibility at the time of service.

Can I still get reimbursed by my insurance?
Upon request, we provide a superbill and supporting documentation after testing that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined entirely by your insurance plan—we're unable to guarantee or estimate what portion, if any, will be reimbursed.

Scheduling, Rescheduling & Cancellations

We hold appointment times specifically for your family, so advance notice matters:

Extenuating circumstances—such as significant illness or a family emergency—are considered on a case-by-case basis and may allow rescheduling without an additional charge.

Confidentiality & Records

How is my family's information protected?
Information shared with Bluebirds is treated as confidential and protected under HIPAA and applicable law. We will not disclose confidential information except as authorized by you or when disclosure is permitted or required by law.

Are there limits to confidentiality?
Yes. Limits may include suspected abuse or neglect that must be reported, a serious and imminent threat to health or safety, a valid legal order, health oversight activities, or other disclosures required or permitted by law.

Will Bluebirds share results with my child's school or doctor?
Only with your written authorization. Communication with schools, teachers, physicians, or other professionals uses a separate authorization form identifying who will receive information and what will be shared.

How long are records kept?
Georgia psychology rules require complete records to be retained for at least seven years after the last date of service for adults. For a client who was a minor when services were provided, records are retained until three years after the age of majority, or at least seven years after the last date of service, whichever is later.

Communication & Office Policies

How do I reach Bluebirds with questions?
Through our secure client portal or by emailing info@bluebirdsaugusta.com. Routine scheduling and logistical questions are not ordinarily billed. Professional consultation, clinical review, or correspondence requiring more than 15 minutes of professional time may be billed at our hourly rate; we'll let you know when that applies.

What should I do in an emergency?
Bluebirds does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you or a family member is experiencing a life-threatening emergency or an immediate safety concern, call 911, go to the nearest emergency department, or contact the Georgia Crisis & Access Line at 1-800-715-4225.
